POOL EXCAVATION
Pools are a wonderful way to improve the value of your home and create an entertainment space for your family in our hot climate. Just like the finish on the outside, the pool excavation should be executed in a precise manner to ensure efficiency in the trades that follow.
There are a few things to consider before excavating for a pool:
-
Depth of the pool, deep end and shallow. Seems straight forward enough, but consider who will be using the pool? Kids would prefer to splash around in the shallow end so you might want to increase the length of the shallow parts or add a ledge for sitting.
-
Lighting. Reflections in the pool from pool lights can create an ambience at night and really upgrade the wow factor of your pool with very little cost. You may also consider how these items are integrated and finished.
-
Location of skimmer box and pool equipment (pumps/ filters etc), these are a necessity but also not the most visually appealing feature of the pool.
-
Pool surrounds – In the addition to the finish surface of the pool, you should also consider how the pool and enclosing balustrade will blend in with the landscaping area around it.

SERVICE TRENCHING
Runnings services is a collaborative effort on site and understanding the methodology is crucial in working in unison. Understanding the trade process creates a more efficient work site which gets the project completed on time and budget.
Trenching for services can be for multiple reasons, such as running mains cabling to a house or shed, running stormwater for a house or installing under-slab sewer for your bathrooms and laundries.

DRIVEWAY REMOVAL & PREPARATION
Upgrading your driveway has the obvious benefits of better accommodating for your cars and trailers within your property, but it can also significantly improve the appearance of your frontage. There are a few things you should consider however before tackling your new driveway project:
-
Width of your driveway? Can I fit both my cars with enough room to safely open my doors or wheel my bin through? Should I add a garden bed to visually break the look of materials?
-
Thickness of your driveway? Is this a high traffic area or am I planning on driving heavy equipment?
-
Managing runoff. Water is a major contributor to damage to properties, safely diverting water away from the home and into drains is crucial to the longevity of a home.
-
Approach angle. Can my cars safely enter and exit the driveway without causing damage to my property or vehicle?
-
The finish. Is there an appropriate slip rating when moisture is present? Choosing the correct colour and material is a tough challenge while trying to complement the existing home and street appeal. Remember the driveway makes up for a large area of your home from the street.
